The Wordland Scape, an educational game for autistic children developed by Digital Monster Collective, has won the weekly voting on Game Development World Championship (GDWC) Fan Favourite category for the Educational Games week.

The team will move on to the next round of Fan Favourite category in the GDWC and will face off against other weekly vote winners in the final voting event at the end of the GDWC 2020 season.

“People with autism spectrum disorder, especially children, usually show difficulties in the communication and understanding of emotions. In fact, it is a condition that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, having the communicative, emotional and symbolic development disturbed, causing problems in social interaction and communication. However, it is known that playing is an effective means that contributes to the development of those abilities in cases of autism. That’s why we created this video game,” the development team describes the motivation behind creating the game.

Second place went to Lääkemaisteri, a game that helps medical students learn medicine dosage calculations, developed in Savonia University of Applied sciences in Finland. Musical Game for Kids which helps children develop musical skills, developed by Pablo Daniel Bozzone from Argentina came in the third position.
