There were widespread uproar against the deal from esports fans and teams. Broadcasters too have raised their concern.
BLAST has become the the second well-known esports company to terminate contract with Neom, with Riot being the first.
There is an ongoing controversy about the imminent eviction of about 20,000 members of the Huwaitat tribe who has been residing in the place for centuries where the proposed city is planned.
For starters, Neom is a city in the Tabuk province of Saudi Arabia. A major tourist attraction costing $500 billion is planned there, labeled “humanity’s next chapter”, which will feature feature flying cars, robot dinosaurs and an artificial moon.
