Palace Casino Resort Redesigned for Social Distancing

The Palace Casino Resort in Mississippi has redesigned its casino floor layout to offer greater distancing and provide more separation between players.

Slot machines are arranged in a way that eliminates nearly every instance of side by side gaming. These changes are made to prepare for reopening in light of heightened concern for health and safety.

“We knew the game had changed and visiting a casino would not be the same for a very long time. We wanted to go beyond cleaning and sanitizing to provide an even safer casino with greater distancing to avoid gaming next to anyone,” Keith Crosby, General Manager of Palace Casino Resort, said.

“There was never a question about what had to be done to protect our customers. We decided early on that when we reopen, we would suspend gaming activity in the casino between 3 AM and 8 AM every day to thoroughly clean and disinfect surfaces, including UV disinfection of gaming chips,” Crosby added.

There will be housekeeping staff to sanitize and disinfect slot machines after each gaming session and to distribute disinfecting wipes. Hand sanitizer stations are placed throughout the property. Plexiglass shields have been installed to ensure distance and protection for guests and team members.

Restaurants will operate at a reduced capacity with fewer, more distanced tables. Servers and other food and beverage associates will be wearing face masks and gloves.

The spa and fitness center will remain closed to avoid direct contact. Valet parking, room service, and other hotel services will not be available when the property reopens.

“We have missed our guests and team members and can’t wait to welcome everyone back as soon as it’s safe and we have approval to do so. There is a real difference here at The Palace and I think everyone will appreciate it,” Crosby said.
