The Belgian Gambling Commission (BGC) has appointed Magali Clavie as its new President. Clavie is a retired Judge of the Brussels High Court and previously served as President of the Supreme Council of Justice of Belgium.

In his new role, Clavie will be charged with implementing the BGC’s “Commission 2.0” policy to implement new, healthier gaming and consumer protection initiatives.

Other tasks are likely to see Clavie charged with updating Belgian advertisement codes related to betting sponsorships, following disagreements over collaboration terms between Jupiler League Clubs and the BGC. Clavie takes over from the BGC after a tumultuous time for the governing authority of Belgium gambling.
