Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Selects Gambling Expansion Study Group
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has selected a study group to investigate gambling expansion within the state. The group of 12 people will investigate to determine a gambling policy for the state and will provide a report by the end of this year.
Former Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange will lead the group. It is expected that the report will address several items, including how much revenue new games and facilities will bring to the state in revenue, as well as what impact these facilities will have.
“I am committed to, once and for all, getting the facts so that the people of Alabama can make an informed decision on what has been a hotly debated topic for many years. Without a doubt, there will be ramifications if we eventually expand gaming options in our state just as there are costs associated with doing nothing,” Kay Ivey said.
“If we wait until Dec. 31, we’ve missed the November election. It’s the most highly participated election in the state in a presidential year. We’ve got the factor of a hotly contested U.S. Senate race. The time to do a lottery is this November,” House Ways and Means General Fund committee chair Steve Clouse, R-Ozark said.
Playson has signed a content partnership with Mohegan Digital to launch its online casino games in Ontario via PlayFallsview.com, with go-live expected in early Q2 2026.
Under the agreement, PlayFallsview.com—Mohegan Digital’s online casino brand in Ontario—will add a selection of Playson titles. Games named in the announcement include Coin Strike: Hold and Win, Diamonds Power XXL: Hold and Win and 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win.
The rollout will be delivered through Light & Wonder’s platform, which the companies said will support integration and content distribution in the regulated market.

Gaming Corps has partnered with Caesars Entertainment to launch a selection of its online casino titles across Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino and Horseshoe Online Casino.
Caesars will integrate a mix of Gaming Corps releases, including 3 Pigs of Olympus, Smash4Cash
powered Piggy Smash and Blackjack Multihand. The rollout also includes alternative formats such as mine-style games Shootout Champion and Penalty Champion, plus Plinko Slam Dunk.

Bally’s Chicago Tops Off Permanent Casino, Marking Major Construction Milestone on Path to Spring 2027 Opening
Bally’s Chicago marked a major construction milestone at its permanent casino site at 560 W. Grand Ave. with a topping-off ceremony celebrating the placement of the final structural beam. Once complete, the $1.7 billion development is expected to create approximately 3000 permanent jobs for the local community and is slated to open in spring 2027.
The event brought together Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Alderman Walter Burnett Jr., Bally’s Executive Chairman Soo Kim, union leaders, and members of the Chicago Community Builders Collective (CCBC), alongside trades workers building the project. To date, more than 1000 tradespeople have worked on the project, reflecting Bally’s investment in Chicago labor and the workforce behind one of the city’s largest active developments.
The ceremony concluded with the traditional signing, lifting, and placement of the final beam, marking a key structural milestone and drawing project partners together on site overlooking the Chicago River and skyline. The moment offered one of the clearest visuals yet of Bally’s future presence along Chicago’s riverfront.
“This is a significant milestone for Bally’s Chicago and reflects the incredible effort of the union trades and partners who have made this moment possible. We’re proud of the progress to date and excited to move into the next phase as we deliver a one-of-a-kind destination for the people of Chicago,” said Soo Kim.
The $1.7 billion development is part of a 30-acre redevelopment of the former Chicago Tribune Freedom Center site, which will be transformed into a riverfront destination reconnecting River West and the Near West Side to the Chicago River, improving public access, and activating the river’s edge.
Bally’s is also releasing new renderings showcasing key elements of the project’s interior design and guest experience. Bally’s Chicago has engaged WATG to lead the design of the casino interiors, shaping gaming, entertainment, and social spaces within the larger destination.
